Rainy Dismissal
Rainy dismissal means that it is raining, but safe for students to load buses and cars and leave campus if they would like. It is usually slower, but students will stand outside under the cover of the buildings and load as they see their parents. Once at car line students may have their phones out and you can text them as you are getting to the front of the line, so they look for you.
Lightening Dismissal
Lightening dismissal means that our Thor Guard has been activated and it is not safe for students and staff to be at car line, walking/riding bikes home and for students to leave on buses. We try to send a text for our parents to know this is occurring, but please know sometimes they are delayed and out of our control. Our bus students are safely kept in the café until we can load them and know when they get off the bus lightening will not be an issue.
Walkers and Bike riders gather together, and we have to wait until it is clear to allow them to leave campus. Car riders all meet in the gym. There are two ways we can proceed at this point. Sometimes we will have parents come to the gate to get their students (we call into the gym and send them to meet you at the fence and you can take them to your car) or sometimes we will radio from the cars and call them to car line without parents exiting their cars. The procedure is determined by the weather and the proximity of the lightening along with the factor if it is safe for students to walk to the car and for staff to be in car line.
